Buffaloes Stampede 49ers 12-1

Long Beach gave up three goals in the first, seven in the second, and two more in the third in Saturday's trouncing dished up by the Univ. of Colorado. The 49ers have two weeks to regroup before heading to Flagstaff, AZ for a pair against Northern Arizona Univ. Have a safe & happy Halloween!

Road Weary 49ers Fall to Eagles 6-2

Eastern Washington pounced on the 49ers with two shorthanded goals in the first two minutes which LB never recovered from on the way to 6-2 loss. LB picked up two third-period power play goals from Skyler Hoar and Sebastian Rodriguez on a major but it was not enough. Up next for the 49ers: San Jose State @ 7:45pm.

Beach Heads North for Major Tourney

Your 49ers (6-1) head to San Jose State University this weekend for the 4th Annual Best of the West Showcase. This three-game tournament will directly impact where the 49ers land in the first ranking of the season coming at the end of the month.

Thursday night LB battles Eastern Washington for the first time of three times this season. Friday LB has their hands full with San Jose State, which snapped a 3-0 start to the 49er season in a 3-2 thriller at Glacial Gardens. 49ers Fall 3-2 to Spartans

A bad bounce off a 49er defender gave San Jose a  3-2 lead late in the third period and LB was unable to recover for their first lost of the season. At least the burritos from Chipotle Mexican Grill after the game were delicious. Thanks Chipotle!

49er Ice Hockey Season Preview

Expectations are high for a 49er squad that went 15-13-2 in the 2009-2010 campaign. Seniors Sean Hoang and Scott Byrum will be joined by Junior forward Skyler Hoar on what might be the most exciting top line to watch in the West Division of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. They each possess explosive speed, crafty puck-handling, and a knack for finding the back of the net.

Tanner Woodbury and Captain James Robelotto will anchor the defense along with senior assistant captains Kevin Brown and Nick Kemp. Although Kemp is on the injured list for the start of the season, sophomore Matt Rushton will drop back on defense. Rushton returns to the 49ers after a two-year stint serving for the Marines in Afghanistan. In honor of him and all the brave men and women that protect our freedoms, the 49ers will host Military Appreciation Night in January. All members of every military branch and their guests will be admitted to games on 1/14 & 1/15 for only $1. Other details will follow soon.

Long Beach has a tough schedule ahead as the local competition has intensified. CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, and Loyola Marymount, gave the 49ers bitter fights last season and will make for exciting matches at home and on the road.

The 49ers have two make-or-break roadtrips with the first coming in October, a three-day tournament at San Jose to battle San Jose State Univ., Univ. of Colorado, and Eastern Washington Univ. All three teams were ranked in the top five of the West region last season. In January the 49ers go to Spokane, WA to see Eastern Washington Univ. two more times.

All the 49ers are optimistic about what the season will hold.

“We are really excited for the new found depth,” said Captain Robelotto. “We seem to have strong team chemistry already and it’s very early in the season.”

When asked which of the new players this season has the potential to make the most impact, Coach Sheehy succinctly replied, “All of them.”
